Teaching Experience

I began my teaching journey as an art instructor and later worked for many years as a Long Term Occasional Teacher with the SCDSB and YRDSB public school boards. In 2022, I began supply teaching at KBS and quickly fell in love with the school community. I then taught Senior Kindergarten for one year before moving into Grade 2, where I have been teaching for the past three years and truly love the work I do.

Current Teaching Role

Grade 2 Homeroom Teacher

What You Believe Matters Most in Schooling

I believe that children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and engaged. A positive and active classroom environment helps students feel confident, regulated, and open to learning. School should meet children where they are, offering both support and challenge so they can reach their full potential. Strong partnerships with families are essential, and school should be a joyful place where students feel excited to learn and create meaningful memories.

What You Believe Matters Most in Education

I believe education should be purposeful, responsive, and rooted in curiosity. Inquiry-based learning encourages students to ask questions, think critically, and make meaningful connections across subjects. Effective education challenges students while remaining accessible through universal design, ensuring all learners can engage and succeed. When learning is student-centred, experiential, and thoughtfully scaffolded, children develop independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

What You Like Most About KBS

What I love most about the school is its small, supportive community and the strong relationships built with families. I genuinely enjoy working closely with parents and being part of a school that can respond thoughtfully to student needs. One of my favourite things is the shared sense of humour among both students and staff, which goes hand in hand with a strong work ethic and high expectations. It is a place where people work hard, support one another, and enjoy learning together. I truly feel that I have found my professional home at KBS.

Hobbies & Interests

I have two happy and busy boys at home who keep life full and active. Outside of school, you’ll often find us biking along our favourite trails, spending time at the hockey arena, camping, or cuddling up together to read our favourite stories. I value healthy living and enjoy staying active, whether through exercise, outdoor adventures, or time spent in nature. In quieter moments, I love creating art and writing, which allow me to reflect, recharge, and stay creatively inspired.
